Kaymaklı

Kaymaklı is one of the largest and most sprawling underground cities in Cappadocia, descending several levels beneath the village of the same name. Its warren of rooms, stables, wine cellars and chapels could be sealed off by heavy circular stone doors. A tunnel of roughly eight kilometres once linked Kaymaklı with the neighbouring underground city of Derinkuyu.
