FAQFrequently asked questions
What kind of mountain is it and how high is it?
Hostra Gora is a peak in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in the Polonyn Ridge. It has two almost equal crowns: the northwestern (1405 m) and the southeastern (1404.3 m), stretched into one ridge.
Where is she located?
In Transcarpathia, on the border of Uzhgorod and Mukachevo districts, southwest of Perehresne village.
What grows there and what can be seen above?
Up to a height of about 1,300 m, the slopes are covered with forest, and higher up, open mountain meadows begin. Hence the name of the ridge.
What is interesting about the neighborhood?
The sources of the Lyutyanka River originate on the southwestern slopes. A little further south is the Turye-Polyansky Zoological Reserve, so everything is fine with wildlife here.
When is the best time to go?
The forest-polonyn route is most comfortable in late spring and summer, when the polony is free of snow and the trails are dry. In winter, we pass the ridge, but only for those who are prepared.
