What is the Angar Pass and what is its height?
This is a mountain pass in central Crimea at an altitude of 752 meters - the highest point of the road between Simferopol and Alushta. It lies on the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains between the Chatyr-Dag and Demerji massifs.
How to get here?
The easiest way is by the Simferopol-Alushta highway, by car or by bus. The legendary Crimean trolleybus once passed here, in whose honor a monument was even erected in 2012.
What can be seen here?
Nearby lies Bukova Grove on the slopes of Chatyr Dagu, and the pass itself has long become a popular place for recreation. In winter, they go skiing on the nearby slopes.
What is the overgrown pass and what is around?
The slopes are covered with forest - oak, hornbeam, beech and aspen. The place is green and shady, so the heat here is easier to bear than on the coast.
Is there any interesting history here?
The pass has been of strategic importance since the time of Byzantium. In 1774, a battle took place here, in which the future Russian general Kutuzov lost an eye, and the first normal road was laid as early as 1826.
