Chornohirsky khrebet

This is the highest ridge of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It was here that all six Ukrainian two-thousanders gathered, including Hoverla (2,061 m) - the highest point in the country. The ridge stretches for approximately 40 km between Black Tisa and Black Cheremosh, on the border of Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

In addition to Hoverla (2061 m), the ridge includes Brebeneskul (2035 m), Petros (2020 m), Gutyn Tomnatyk (2016 m), Rebra (2001 m) and Munchel, which almost reaches two thousand (1998 m). In fact, this is almost the entire Ukrainian club of two thousand people on one crest.

The most comfortable time is summer and early autumn, when alpine meadows are dry and passable. Above 1,600 m, beech and spruce forests give way to the open Polony area, so the weather here dictates its own rules even in summer - a warm jacket will not be superfluous.

Alpine grasslands, rare plants that do not grow anywhere else, and a living Hutsul culture with sheep farming, which still continues here for about five months of the year. Part of the territory is a nature conservation zone, created back in 1964.

Montenegro is popular both among regular hikers and among those who like more serious trekking and climbing. The route to Hoverla is covered by thousands of people, but the height, open ridges and changeable weather demand respect - after all, these are the highest mountains of Ukraine, not a walk in the park.
