Bolshie Vorota Pass
The Great Gate, or Balaban-Kapu, is a pass near Karabi-yayla, one of the ancient pedestrian passages of the central Crimea. Paths between the Yails have been used for a long time through it, and tourist routes still use it, connecting Karabi with neighboring massifs such as Tirke.
The place is purely walkable: you don't have to gain a sharp height here, but it rewards you with views on the edge of the plateau and a feeling of a real mountain "threshold" between valleys. We will not give exact numbers, because the pass lives more in hiking reports than in dry reference books.
As everywhere in the Karabakh, there are few landmarks, and the weather is changeable. The map, the track and the water supply here are more useful than any promises of an easy walk.
