What is Machhermo and why go there?
A small village in the Khumbu region in the east of Nepal, in fact - several guesthouses for those who go to the mountains. It lies at an altitude of 4,470 meters in the valley of the Dudh-Kosi River, so the very fact that you got there is already a reason to be proud.
On which route is Machhermo located?
This is an intermediate stop on the trek to Gokyo via Gokyo Ri, the road to the foot of Mount Everest. The village stands between Dole in the south and Gokyo in the north, so you can't miss it.
Why stop here, if the goal is to go further?
Due to the altitude, Machhermo is a convenient place for acclimatization before climbing higher. Rushing at such an altitude is a bad idea, so a night here will save you a lot of discomfort further down the route.
What is interesting nearby?
Immediately above the village begins the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa - the longest glacier in the Himalayas. And further along the route, the Hokyo lakes await, for which they mainly come here.
