Just a dozen kilometres from Bukovel (the most popular ski resort in the Carpathians) lies the Malyi Gorgan ridge. A very picturesque place: "proper" sharp mountain peaks, huge boulders and low, creeping little firs. Thanks to the nearby main road it is very convenient to make short hikes here, and there is also the chance to spend the night in shepherds' huts (kolybas) - which matters a lot in winter.

Day by dayItinerary
1 Day 1. Road to Bukovel, Baranya valley, Khomyak, Kolyba.
The group gathers at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station. Next we take a bus going to the famous ski resort Bukovel. 8 km before reaching Bukovel, we get off the bus and begin our climb along the forest path towards Mount Khomyak (1544m). We cross a picturesque river, walk along a gentle serpentine road along the slope of Mount Khomyak. We pass through stone screes and beech-spruce forests and come out to the Baranya meadow (1330m). If you have time, you can climb to the top of Khomyak. At the edge of the clearing there is a kolyba - a summer house of shepherds, where we will spend the night.
2 Day 2. gSynyak(1665m)-gMaly Gorgan(1592m)-Blazhiv valley.
From the Baranya meadow we go through the forest to the east and soon come out onto stone screes. We climb along a gentle ridge to the top of Mount Synyak (1665m). Further along the flat ridge we move to the top of Maly Gorgan (1592m). From here a rather steep slope will lead us to the Bladzhiw meadow. At the edge of this meadow there is a recently reconstructed kolyba, where we will spend the night.
3 Day 3. Polonina Bladzhiv - Bukovel.
From the Komarniki meadow we go down to the Vilshinetz river, along which we go to Bukovel. This is where the hike ends - you can stay in Bukovel, ski, or go to Ivano-Frankivsk by bus.
