Kotelets
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Kotelets and where does it flow?
This is a mountain stream in the Gorgan massif, which belongs to the Ukrainian Carpathians. It flows through a rocky valley to the southwest of the village of Osmoloda in the Kaluska district of Ivano-Frankivsk region and is a tributary of the Moloda River.
How to get to Kotelets?
The landmark is the village of Osmoloda, from where the stream runs to the southwest. These are deep Gorgans, so prepare for forest roads and hiking, not for asphalt under the very shore.
What is interesting to see nearby?
In the valley of the stream there is a protected tract of Kotelets - 7.2 hectares of spruce forest on steep rocky slopes, under protection since 1988. It is for the sake of these Christmas trees on the steep terrain that it is worth turning here.
When is the best time to go to Kotelets?
The warm half of the year is the wisest choice: the slopes here are steep and rocky, and the Gorgans do not forgive carelessness with footwear. In the spring and after the rains, the stones are slippery, keep your balance.
