FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Veliky Verkh and what is its height?

This is a peak in the Ukrainian Carpathians with a height of 1598 m, part of the Polonyna Borzhava massif. The relative height is as much as 1103 m, so the mountain rises quite convincingly above the surrounding valleys.

Where exactly is it located?

In Transcarpathia, on the border of Mukachevo and Khust districts, not far from Volovets. Nearby are the villages of Guklivy, Podobovets and Pylypets.

What is the easiest way to get there?

The easiest option is from Pylypts: you get on the chairlift to Mount Gemba, and then you walk along the ridge to Velky Verkh itself. Without a rope, you will have to trample everything on your two feet.

What can be seen from the top?

The entire Polonyna Borzhava range unfolds from here, stretching in a huge arc. At the very top there is a geodetic trigonometric point - a landmark that will not allow you to get lost.

What to see nearby?

To the east of the summit, the Shipit waterfall is hidden - a logical destination, if you have already found yourself in these parts and your legs are still strong.
