FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Shipit and how big is it?

This is a waterfall in Transcarpathia, near the village of Pylypets. The water falls 14 meters, but not in one jump, but in five cascades - so the spectacle is stretched.

On which river is the waterfall?

On the Pylypets stream, which flows into the Rypinka river (Tysa basin). The cascades were formed where hard sandstones and gravels come out.

How to get there?

The easiest way from the Volovets railway station is about 10 kilometers to the waterfall. The landmark on the spot is the ski lift, which is 300 meters away.

When is the best time to go?

In the spring, when the snow melts on the slopes - then there is the most water and Shipit shows itself to the fullest. It is calmer in the summer.

What is Shipit known for besides water?

Informals have been gathering here for years at the beginning of July, and the peak falls on Ivan Kupala on July 7. These parties even inspired Lyubko Deresh to write the novel "A Little Darkness".
