FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Emler and how tall is he?

This is a 3,723-meter-high peak in the Aladaglar mountain range, which belongs to Taurus in southern Turkey. One of the most popular peaks of the massif for climbing - partly because it is not a technical wall, but a mountain with a trodden path to the top.

Where is it located and how to get there?

Administratively, it is Nigde province, Chamardy district. They usually start from the village of Çukurbağ, from where they go on foot to the Yedıgoller plateau, and from there they climb to Emler.

When is the best time to go?

Summer is the smartest choice: in the mountains of Aladaglaru, this is the period when the trails are free of snow and the weather is more stable. In winter, it's a completely different story here, for those who are prepared.

What to see nearby?

On the eastern side lies the Yedigoller plateau - literally "Seven Lakes", known for its water colors. Nearby rises Demirkazyk (3757 m) - the highest point of the massif and its main attraction.

Is it difficult to climb Emler?

Moderate by the standards of big mountains: there is a trail leading to the top, so it's more of a long trek than climbing with ropes. But the altitude below 3,700 meters forces you to respect acclimatization and take your time.
