What is Hermannsdalstinden and how high is it?
This is the highest mountain on the island of Moskenesea in the Lofoten Islands in Norway. It stretches up to 1029 meters, which is quite decent for a tiny island in the middle of the ocean.
Where exactly is it located?
In the west of the island of Moskenese, in the commune of Moskenes (Fulke Nordlan). It is approximately 6.5 km to the west from the town of Reine to the mountain.
How to get to the top?
The classic starting point is Munkebu's hut, where they spend the night before the assault. The circular route from the hut to the top and back takes about six to eight hours, so it doesn't hurt to get some sleep before that.
How much time should be allocated for climbing?
Only the ascent and descent from the Munkebu hut is six to eight hours of walking. Add the road to the hut and the Norwegian weather, which likes to rewrite plans, and you have a full day.
What is interesting about this mountain?
This is the absolute height record holder of Moskensee, besides, it stands right above the photogenic fjords of Lofoten. It turns out a rare combination: a mountain with a height of more than a thousand meters is literally a step away from the sea.
