What is Ayder and where is he?
Ayder is a yayla (high mountain pasture) in Çamlıhemşın County, Rize Province, on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. The average height is about 1350 m, there have historically been no permanent residents here, only seasonal guests.
How to get there?
Ayder lies 17 km from the town of Chamlyhemshin and 88 km from the city of Rize. That is, first to Rize, then deep into the mountains - and you are there.
What do they keep warm here?
Hot springs - they were officially described as early as 1871, and the water warms up to 55 degrees. Not a bad reward after a mountain road.
What to see and taste?
Dense forests and many waterfalls nearby. And the locals are also famous for honey from rhododendron in beehives hung on trees, and trout, which are bred between Ayder and Chamlyhemshyn.
Why did Ayder become a resort in the first place?
In 1987, the government officially declared it a tourist center, and since then Yayla has turned into a summer resort. The very name Ayder in the Hemshin language simply means fields.
