Icy Wind and 1953: Montreal launches immersive expedition to Mount Everest
Montreal presents an interactive project Everest: Unknown Territory dedicated to the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. The sessions will be held in the Panorama Experience space on the territory of Grand Quai du Port de Montréal.
The exhibition format is based on the technology of free movement across a 400 square meter area without stationary chairs or controllers in their hands. Participants move independently through the location, overcome the route in a bundle and experience the conditions of the highlands thanks to cold air currents, simulated wind gusts and vibrations.
The expedition lasts approximately 40 minutes and is available to visitors aged 8 and over. Children aged 8 to 12 are only allowed to participate if accompanied by a person who is at least 14 years old.
Context
The project pays special attention to the traditions and role of the Sherpas people, without whose mountain experience, support, and care the 1953 expedition would not have been able to reach the summit.
