A two-meter bear blocked a tourist on a mountain trail at 北海道
The incident occurred on 九度山 in the 名寄市 area of the city in the north of 北海道. A man in his 40s had reached the top and was descending twenty to thirty meters below when he saw a bear about two meters long on the trail.
The animal crossed the path about fifty meters ahead, causing the hiker to freeze in place and be afraid to go any further. He called his family to say that he could not descend the mountain because of the predator. At about 12:10, the family reported the incident to emergency services.
The helicopter 北海道警察 was used for the evacuation. At 16:10, the crew lifted the tourist on board. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
