In the forests of the Pollino massif, a chestnut picker came to the light of life-saving beacons
A search operation has been launched in the Pollino Massif area following the disappearance of a 54-year-old tourist from Bari who had gone into the forest between the municipalities of Francavilla in Sinni and San Severino Lucano. The man left his car along a provincial road near the Scala Magnano area and soon lost track of the trail among the trees.
The alarm was raised by the manager of the accommodation facility where the traveler stayed, contacting Carabinieri. Specialists from Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico della Basilicata, the fire brigade from Terranova di Pollino, as well as representatives of the forest guard joined the search. The lost person noticed the flashing blue beacons of rescue vehicles, thanks to which the search teams quickly determined his location.
