While hiking in Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, a 58-year-old resident of Caldogno fell in fresh snow on a trail in the Bocchetta Larici area. As a result of the fall, the tourist suffered a suspected ankle fracture and was unable to move without assistance. The victim was in the mountains with a group of twelve companions.

The emergency services were notified of the incident at around 12:30. A team of five Soccorso alpino drove to Rifugio Larici in their service vehicles and then set off up the trail. After a thirty-minute hike, the specialists reached the scene, provided first aid to the woman and prepared her for transportation.

The injured woman was placed on a stretcher and lowered to a parking lot near Rifugio Larici. An ambulance crew was waiting for her there, and they transported the victim to ospedale di Asiago for further examination.

Context

The mountain pass Bocchetta Larici is located in the northern part of Altopiano dei Sette Comuni at an altitude of about 1876 meters, on the ridge between the peaks of Cima Mandriolo and Cima Portule. It is reached by the marked CAI path no. 825, which starts at Rifugio Larici (1658 m) and crosses the forests and high-altitude pastures of Pontarina.

This pass is a key node on the panoramic ridge route above the Valsugana valley. On clear days, it offers views of the Lagorai massif and the lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo, as well as paths leading to former Austrian fortifications from the First World War.
