Camping boiler made of stainless steel 10l

Camping boiler made of stainless steel 10l

Weight: cauldron without lid - 1100 g, lid - 260 g, together 1360 g.
Volume: to the top line - 10 l, to the bottom line - 8 l, boiling reserve (above the top line) - 1.5 l.
Dimensions (with lid): length - 28 cm, width - 22 cm, height - 25 cm.
Design: a boiler of a classic (for tourism) oval shape - so that it can easily fit into a backpack. Welded from thin but durable (and heavy) stainless steel. The bottom is flat. The bow is solid, made of strong wire, not cable. In general, everything about this product is durable and reliable. The cauldron lid does not have any handles or grips. I use a spoon to remove it from the hot pot.

Answers to questions

Can you cook in it on a burner? Such cookware is primarily intended for leisurely cooking over fires in conditions where there is an abundance of firewood. The bottom area of the boiler is too small, and if you place it on a burner (or even on two burners), the boiling time for water will be simply monstrous. Most likely 30 minutes.

Doesn't the stainless steel stick? Does it burn. For more comfortable work for the cook (on duty), it makes sense to place the boiler on a taganka or hang it on a system of metal cables. Of course, it weighs great even on a wooden crossbar, but “kneading the bottom” is not so convenient. Yes, if you don’t stir continuously, thick food will easily burn on the thin bottom. That is why I prefer to cook in such cauldrons with a large supply of moisture. For example, I cook buckwheat, not 1 to 2 with water, but 1 to 3 or even more. And I drain the excess water after the dish is completely cooked. The design of the lid, of course, is not very conducive to effective pumping, but you can get used to it.

How human is he? If you fill the cauldron to the top line (i.e. pour 10 liters into it), then only 3-4 centimeters of rim will remain above the line. This supply is not enough to prepare complex dishes. Those. It will be possible to brew 10 liters of tea in such a cauldron, but not 10 liters of rice porridge. A much more realistic mark is 8 liters (bottom line). With a norm of 0.5 liters per person, it turns out that such a vessel can comfortably “feed” 16 people, or 18, but with some tricks.

Where can I buy such a boiler? I don’t know. These boilers are produced by the Russian company "Wind Rose". And as far as I know, such boilers are not sold in Ukraine. I myself bought them remotely, back in 2010, with the help of tourist friends from St. Petersburg. From time to time, in modest “non-branded” tourist shops in Kyiv, I came across similar oval models of boilers, but the manufacturer there was clearly different and the quality was lower - rough welds, welded bottom (it will burn more strongly in the corners), etc.
