Now here, under Everest, the multi-day Everest Trail Run is taking place. We witnessed the third stage, which finished not far from our shelter. Participants run about 30 km a day (with at least 2 km of elevation change), they are required to carry a backpack no lighter than 4 kg containing a sleeping bag and warm clothes and, most importantly, they pay a registration fee of over £2,000. The man in the photo finished one of the last, barely moving his legs (his knees hurt), and fell to the ground barely crossing the finish mark. And before that, we saw the athlete sobbing with resentment - she got lost and missed the checkpoint. What I mean is that people are willing to pay a lot of money even for not the most pleasant experiences. Compared to them, our trek to Everest Base Camp looks almost like a resort. #Nepal
