We organize not only summer, but also winter hikes in the Crimea and the Carpathians. A winter hike is not only a “test of all systems,” but also an opportunity to rediscover already familiar places. After all, under the cover of snow, the mountains look completely different. "They are so harsh..." Even the low Crimean mountains, decorated with snow, look more than respectable. And only cool people walk on them:)
The requirements for participants in winter hikes are much higher than for people walking similar routes in the warm season. We are talking not only about the physical, but also about the moral qualities of a person. In addition, everyone should be provided with reliable winter equipment and clothing (pleasure does not come cheap). Negligence in preparation can result in mortal danger.
If all these difficulties do not frighten you, but rather attract you, then welcome to winter:)
In Crimea winters are warm. There are a lot of evergreens on the coast, some even bloom, some are chirping. The Crimean winter is generally easy to confuse with our “continental” spring. But this is on the shore. But in the mountains everything is real: deep snow, strong winds and arctic cold. The speed of movement in such conditions usually does not exceed 2 km/h.
There is even more snow in the Carpathians. Snow covers everything with a one and a half meter layer, turning the usual Christmas trees into the scenery of a magical winter fairy tale. One of those that Jack London wrote about “white silence” and other delights of the North. To move effectively in such conditions, it is highly advisable to have snowshoes or skis.
