Equipment list - budget option
Let's assume that you have never gone hiking, you do not have any equipment or special clothing. How can you “get ready” for a hike with minimal expenses? This article is an attempt to help you with this: choose the right things from your wardrobe and tell you where to get the missing ones.
Cloth.
General principles for selecting clothing:
- do not take anything extra
- avoid cotton products, prefer wool or synthetics
- strive for multifunctionality of things
By excess we mean something that you can do without. Those. It’s nice, of course, to wear a new T-shirt every day, but we can and should do without it - we don’t take it (it will save us 1 kg of weight). Instead of a dozen cotton T-shirts (this is 1.5 kg), it is better to take one or two synthetic ones. Synthetics, unlike cotton, dry quickly directly on the body. Multifunctionality is when you wear the same pants while riding on the bus to the beginning of the route, going on a hike, sitting by the fire in the evening and sleeping in a sleeping bag at night. Taking 4 pairs of different pants for these tasks is an unaffordable luxury.
But what should you take anyway?:
- Tracksuit - pants and jacket made of fine synthetic material. Needed for protection from the wind.
- Synthetic T-shirt - preferably light and covering the shoulders.
- Shorts - Regular sports synthetic shorts. Not denim.
- Wool sweater or fleece - a must-have item of clothing even for hiking in the summer Crimea.
- Panama hat or baseball cap - have necessarily. It is advisable that the headdress covers the ears from the sun.
- Socks and underwear
Shoes.
When hiking, shoes are your main working tool. Take her choice seriously. For summer hikes in Crimea, I recommend using regular running shoes. Please note, not sneakers, not fashionable city “slippers”, but running sneakers. Their shock-absorbing sole will better protect your feet from impacts on the ground. The tread of sneakers should not be completely “bald”.
In order to save weight, I suggest limiting yourself to one pair of shoes, but good, reliable and comfortable ones. Before going on a hike, you should definitely break in your shoes and let your feet get used to them.
Special equipment.
Most likely you don’t have a large backpack (80 liters), a sleeping bag, a camping mat, or a tent. No problem! All this can be rented from us (see rental conditions).
The only piece of equipment that is not yet available for rental is a raincoat. You will have to buy it. Have a raincoat is a must! I recommend poncho capes that cover a person along with a backpack. Although a more budget-friendly choice would be a Chinese raincoat made of thin cellophane.
