Baydarska dolina

This is an intermountain basin in the southwest of Crimea, in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol. About 16 km long and 8 km wide, it lies at an altitude of 300-400 meters, and the surrounding mountains rise to 600-800 meters.

From the old name of the village of Orlyne, which used to be called Baidary. At the beginning of the 19th century, these lands belonged to Admiral M. S. Mordvinov.

The main attraction is the Baidarsky Vorota pass on the southern edge of the valley with a view of the Southern coast of Crimea. There are 12 villages scattered in the valley itself, among them Orlyne, Ozerne and Kyzylov.

The place is valued for its biodiversity, which is significantly helped by the nearby Yaila Plateau. Since 2002, students of the Faculty of Geography of MSU have been doing summer internships here.

Since 1991, the Baydar Valley has had the status of a nature reserve - the largest in this corner of Crimea, so nature is under protection here.
