Petros (Chornohora)
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Petros and how tall is it?
This is a 2,020-meter-high mountain in the Chornohora massif, in the Rakhiv Oblast of Transcarpathia. It stands on the side of the main ridge, between Sheshul and Hoverla, so from a distance you cannot confuse it with anything.
How to get to the top?
Marked paths from the villages of Lazeshchyna, Yasinya or Kvasy. The road to the top takes anywhere from 4 to 8 hours depending on the start, and there is a tourist shelter on the southern slope where you can catch your breath.
How difficult is the climb?
The western and south-western slopes are steep, with stone outcrops, and the northern ones are generally precipitous with rocks. In winter, there is also the danger of avalanches, so the cold season is not for blind walks.
What can be seen from the top?
Almost the entire main ridge of Montenegro - from Hoverla to Popa Ivan. A view that was worth climbing for those few hours.
What grows on the mountain?
Mainly subalpine vegetation: Siberian juniper, rhododendron and blueberry bushes. So you won't be left without a snack from the bush during the season.
