The Austrian mountain marathon Stubai Ultra Trail will officially join the prestigious international UTMB World Series from 2027. The event, under the new name, is scheduled for July 2-3, 2027 in the Stubaital valley, southwest of Innsbruck. The base location will be the village of Neustift, and registration of athletes will begin on December 3, 2026.

The program will include five races, divided into three distance categories: 20K, 50K and 100K. The routes will cover various alpine terrain types - from forest trails and pastures to steep mountain ridges and technically difficult rocky sections. Finishing the distances will allow runners to collect Running Stones points for the qualifying lottery for the final starts of the series in Chamonix.

The organizers of the competition also emphasize transport logistics: thanks to the public transport network and the regional guest card, participants will be able to travel around the valley for free on buses to reach the starting and finishing towns without their own car.

Context

The Stubaital Valley is characterized by a contrasting relief: valley forests and streams alternate with high mountain cliffs and glacial zones, and the region itself has more than a hundred peaks over 3,000 meters high. Among the most famous landmarks here are the Elfer massif above Neustift and the Kalkogel group, whose characteristic stone towers are often called the "North Tyrolean Dolomites".
