Despite the complete containment of the forest fire on the Gunung Arjuno-Welirang massif in the Jawa Timur province, the administration of the Raden Soerjo natural park has decided not to resume tourist traffic. According to the head of the department Agustiningtyas Marani, the elimination of the flames does not mean that the passages immediately became safe.

Inspection teams are examining all trails after the fire and have recorded a significant number of damaged, rotten trunks that could fall on people at any moment. Another threat is the condition of the slopes: due to the burning of the root system, the soil has lost its density, so on the narrow upper trails there is a risk of scree falling or the ground subsiding under the weight of travelers.

Access to the slopes has been closed since October 17, 2026, and registration will be resumed or hike dates will be rescheduled only after experts complete the inspection and declare the area completely safe.
