On Saturday evening, the volunteer civil defense unit of the municipality of Mogán conducted a rescue operation in the gorge of the same name in the southwest of Gran Canaria. At around 7:30 p.m., a local resident noticed a stationary light high on the mountain, which periodically changed colors between white and red, after which the information was transmitted to the emergency services coordination center 112.

Upon arrival in the Las Casillas area, the search team, with the assistance of local residents, illuminated the slope with floodlights and headed up. On a steep section in complete darkness, they found a 34-year-old tourist from checa who could not safely move further due to poor visibility and difficult terrain. The traveler was in satisfactory condition and did not require medical attention, so the group escorted him to the emergency vehicles without any complications.
