In the municipality of Valldemossa on the Spanish island of Mallorca, two Canadian hikers fell from a height of about five meters while hiking along the Torrente d'Aval river. The man and woman suffered numerous bruises and injuries to various parts of their bodies and were unable to continue the route on their own.

Medical workers examined the tourists and provided them with first aid directly at the scene of the accident, after which representatives of the local civil protection service transported them to their place of residence.
Context
The Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, where Valldemossa is located, is made up of limestone rocks in which water erosion has created dozens of narrow gorges and seasonal torrents. These canyons remain dry for most of the year, but are characterized by steep slopes, slippery rocky areas, and sudden drops in elevation.
