A Slovak hiker fell on the descent from Prostredný hrot in the High Tatras. On the afternoon of 18 October, a couple — a man and a woman — were descending near Chmúrna veža when one of them fell about 150 metres.
According to the HZS mountain rescue service, a helicopter was called: at Starý Smokovec it picked up rescuers from the High Tatras regional centre. The 51-year-old man suffered injuries incompatible with life; his body was brought to Starý Smokovec and handed to police and a doctor.
The woman was evacuated by air from the exposed terrain to the same place. The rescue ended late at night.
