Lugares de Aventura and Aragón Digital report that around 17:15 on 30 September the Guardia Civil 062 desk took a call about three hikers stuck on Pico Monte Perdido in the Pineta valley sector (Bielsa, Huesca). The men, aged 25, 31 and 38 from Bilbao, had overestimated their fitness and skill and could not continue, the Guardia Civil said.

Given the terrain and conditions, GREIM Boltaña, the Huesca air unit and a 061 doctor agreed with the group that they would shelter overnight on site. The rescue resumed early on 1 October in heavy rain: crews reached all three and flew them by helicopter to the Boltaña helipad.

None needed hospital transfer — they later left in their own car. The Guardia Civil called it the longest of several operations in the Aragonese Pyrenees between 28 September and 1 October.
