Grand Canyon: Bright Angel closed after rockfall
ABC4 and 12News, citing Grand Canyon National Park officials, report that a rockfall has forced closure of Bright Angel Trail between Mile-and-a-Half Rest House and Havasupai Gardens (formerly Indian Garden).
According to the park, the closure takes effect Tuesday at 11:00 p.m. local time and will last at least 72 hours so crews can safely clear the section for hikers and stock. The public is asked to stay off that stretch while work continues.
Separately, the NPS Key Hiking Messages page (updated 13 October) lists the same segment among hazard closures; parts of the inner canyon (including after the August flash flood) still have no estimated reopening date. Check the park’s live status before hiking.
