Day by dayItinerary

1

Day 1. Flight to Montenegro, Budva

Group gathering in Budva at a pre-agreed hotel. This is a resort town, with a beautiful fortress and picturesque beaches. The nearest airport is Tivat. Direct charters fly there from Kyiv (Borispol), Kharkov, Lvov, Odessa. Ticket prices are 250-300 Euro. Arrival time does not matter. You can get from Tivat to Budva by taxi or a guide will pick you up if he arrives before you. In the evening we walk around the old town of Budva.

2

Day 2. National Park Lovcen, Lipa Cave, Skadar Lake, Podgorica, Gusinje

🥾 3 km 🚐 220 km ⏱ 5

Today we are leaving from the sea to the mountains. But first, let’s run to the “mermaid” (ballerina) on the Budva embankment at dawn. Then along the serpentine we climb into the mountains to the old capital of Montenegro - Cetinje. From there we will make an outing to the Lovcen National Park to the famous lookout at the mausoleum of Peter Njegos. Then we go to Lipa Cave and hide from the heat in its depths. After the cave we go down to Lake Skadar and more precisely to the super spectacular bend Rijeka Crnojevica.

We pass through Podgorica (a rather boring capital) with a short pause at the Millennium Bridge. Then we go through customs and temporarily (at 70 km) find ourselves in Albania. The mountain road leads us to a hard-to-reach corner of Montenegro - Prokletije National Park. Overnight in the village of Gusinye.

3

Day 3. Prokletie National Park, Volushnitsa 1879 m

🥾 5 km 🚐 200 km

In the first half of the day we drive (5 km) to the Grebaje valley. Here we leave the car and climb to the top of Mount Volushnitsa (1879 m), from where a stunning view of the rocks of the Karanfily massif opens. The walk will take about 6 hours (7 km, 750 m of elevation gain).

After lunch we go to the neighboring Ropojana valley, where we see the small Grlja waterfall, Ali Pasha springs and swim in the icy karst lake Oko Skakavice (part of the underground river).

4

Day 4. Komovi National Park, Vasojevićki Kom 2461 m, Djurdzhevich Bridge, Tara Canyon

🥾 8 km 🚐 190 km

We move from Prokletiye to Komovi National Park - 65 km, 2 hours on the road. If there is weather and desire, we go to the top of Vasojevićki Kom (2461 m) - 3 km one way, 700 m of elevation gain, 4-5 hours. Then we drive another 100 km 2 hours to the Tara River canyon. Here you can fly over the abyss on a zipline (20 euros) or just walk along the beautiful Djurdzhievich Bridge. After this we drive (20 km, 30 min) to the town of Zabljak located at the foot of the Durmitor mountain range. In the evening, if there is time left, we will go to the Black Lake.

5

Day 5. Durmitor National Park, Bobotov Kuk 2523 m, Lake Pivsko

🥾 8 km 🚐 65 km

We drive around the perimeter of the Durmitor National Park (15 km, 30 min) and stop at the Sedlo pass (1700 m). From here we will begin the ascent to the highest peak of Montenegro - Bobotov Kuk (2523 m) - 4 km one way, 800 m of elevation gain, about 6 hours. The last meters before the peak are relatively extreme and, if desired, you can “wait out” them in a clearing a little lower. After a mountain lunch, we return to the car and drive (35 km, 1 hour) to Lake Pivske. In fact, it is a huge reservoir built in a mountain gorge. We move towards the border with Bosnia-Herzigovina and spend the night in a rafting camp (bungalows or permanent tents) near the Piva River.

6

Day 6. Rafting, Niksic, Ostrog Monastery, Kotor Bay.

🥾 1 km 🚐 180 km

We spend the morning rafting at the confluence of the Piva and Tara rivers. Then we go south, first to the Ostrog mountain monastery and then through Niksic (and its fortress) we go down to the sea near the town of Lipci.

7

Day 7. Kotor, Perast, Sveti Stefan, Budva

🥾 5 km 🚐 70 km

Last day of travel around Montenegro. We are driving along the shore of the “Mediterranean fjord” - Kotor Bay. In the town of Perast we make a stop to take a boat ride to the picturesque temple on Sotrov. We stop in Kotor for several hours - walk around the old town, go up to the fortress. We go to Budva and check into a hotel. In the evening, if you want, we go to the “island” of Sveti Stefan. Farewell dinner in Budva.

8

Day 8. Flight home

The tour of Montenegro is completed. You can fly home or stay to relax by the sea.

Trip conditions

Accommodation - hotels, apartments, private boarding houses and bungalows. Accommodation for 2-3 people per room. Single occupancy is possible for an additional fee. Every day we change our location, stay in a new place, in a new hotel. The level of hotels may vary.

Transport - we travel by 9-seater minibus. A guide is driving. If you also want to steer, take your license and warn in advance. In some cases, instead of a minibus, we take several cars (4-5 people per car). Depends on group size and availability of transport. In the case of passenger cars, drivers from among the participants will be needed.

Power. Breakfast is often included in the hotel price. We dine in restaurants or cook ourselves (if the apartment has a kitchen). But there is often no time for full meals. Therefore, almost every day we will stop by supermarkets and buy everything we need for snacks.

Communication. There is mobile communication and the Internet along the entire route. Most hotels have Wi-Fi. If you wish, you can buy a local SIM card (20 dollars) or use roaming.
