This is a mid-2000s travel note on the Oriavchyk ski resort, not a description of current conditions. Oriavchyk is located 28 km from Skole (Lviv oblast), which is on the Kyiv-Uzhhorod train route. It is just 4 km from Tysovets. Oriavchyk - then a young and expanding ski resort - could be reached by taxi from the Skole train station for approximately 60-80 UAH per car (prices of that period). The guide's author was not aware of any buses that went there. The slope has a base elevation of 850 m above sea level and a maximum elevation of over 1050 m. There was a tow lift all the way up the mountain and several runs down. Skiing is intermediate, with a gentle slope at the bottom that is perfect for beginners. www.skiukraine.info
