Dilek camping in Cappadocia (Goreme)

Dilek camping in Cappadocia (Goreme)

During our Cappadocia tours, we most often stay in tents at the Dilek campsite. This camping is located directly in Goreme (and not outside), which compares favorably with similar establishments in Cappadocia.

Accommodation here costs 15 liras (about $5) per person. This is about 2 times cheaper than living in a shared room (hostel-type) in one of the guesthouses in Goreme. But you need to take into account that Dilek camping is a very shabby establishment. The area is neglected, there is no kitchen, and there is not always hot water.

Facilities

  • Wi-Fi - absent
  • kitchen - absent
  • electricity - each tree has an outlet
  • hot shower - only in bungalows
  • toilet - 2 pieces
  • car parking - yes
  • barbecue - 2 pieces, can be cooked on fire.
  • pool - abandoned

Obviously we camp to save money. However, if you want to participate in our tour, but prefer to stay in a hotel, then there is no problem. We will help you choose accommodation near our campsite, or you can book your favorite hotel yourself.

How to find a campsite

Dilek camping is located in the eastern part of Goreme, almost at the exit from the village towards the Open Air Museum. Official address: Muze Yolu No. 1 (translated as “museum road”). From the bus station to the campsite it is approximately 400 meters. Please note that on Google Maps the campsite is not marked entirely correctly (50 meters earlier than necessary). But on our map everything is correct:

The red line marks the recommended route from the bus station to the campsite. First walk along the right side of Muze Caddesi for about 300 meters. Reach the "confusing intersection" and turn right, following the signs for the Open Air Museum. After another 130 meters, on the left side of the street you will see a Dilek Camping sign.

Camping layout

Next to the sign there is a small restaurant called Dilek (open occasionally). And there is a tiled descent leading to the campsite itself. One of the plywood houses on the left side of the descent serves as a reception area.

One of the toilets is located in the basement of the restaurant

Further along the path stretches a chain of six squalid plywood bungalows. One of them (the second one, it seems) is decorated with a proud Reception sign. And bungalow No. 6 (the last one) usually works as a shower for “tent campers”. Here, unlike the “northern” bathroom, there is always hot water.

Opposite bungalow no. 6 there is a clearing for tents no. 1. In the next photo she is behind the white minibus. It is quite flat and shady. The covering is grass and small stone chips.

Tent clearing No. 2 is hidden behind the sixth house. It is larger and more spacious, further from the road, more secluded and closer to nature. But the grass here is not always mowed and the neighbors make a lot of noise in the morning - there is a “parking lot” for balloons.

And here is the famous pool with frogs and green water.

Almost every tree on the campsite has an electrical outlet nailed to it. You can charge electronics and even cook food using the boiler (pictured). When it rains, these outlets lose power.

Bungalow

If you are interested in what the houses look like from the inside, here are some photos.

As you can see, the situation is deplorable. Personally, in good weather, living in a tent is more pleasant than in such a shed))
