This report is about the tour: Orient Express 🗓 12–September 17, 2010
Review of the "Orient Express" hike September 12-17, 2010
Two weeks later, after I returned from the hike, I found time to write about this unforgettable, fantastic, magnificent (many more beautiful words can be written), and also difficult mountain hiking trip.
My girlfriend and I waited a long time for this tour, we approached it carefully (even before the trip we understood that it would be a little difficult), although it was our first time going.
Finally, the long-awaited morning came when we arrived at the Simferopol station, where instructor Anton was waiting for us. My friend and I each held a large (or rather, huge) black bag in our hands, which was filled with clothes, a mug, a spoon, a plate, a minimum of pills and hygiene items, a sleeping bag, a rug, and I also bought one lemon for the trip. We lifted these bags with difficulty and took all the most necessary and warm things. Already at that moment I asked myself the question: “And how can I carry all this on my shoulders throughout the entire hike? Mmmmmmmdddaaa……...”
Our fellow travelers were already standing next to the instructor: Misha (from Ukraine), Yulia (from Belarus), Natasha from the Moscow region. We were also told that a couple would be waiting for us at the Red Cave, who would go with us on this exciting walking tour. The instructor gave Tanya and I each a backpack and a tent. Hmm...and how should all the contents of the black bag fit into this backpack, and also the food....???
On the tablecloth Anton laid out food (porridge, cones, milk powder, chocolates, lollipops, dried fruits, tea, coffee, sugar tablets), a cauldron, a ladle, a pot. We had to put all the food in our backpacks. The instructor helped us pack our backpack correctly. Of the products, they gave me 4 cans of pate, 4 cans of sprats, and 4 packages of horns. After the backpack was packed, I tried to lift it with both hands, it worked - but with great difficulty.
After everyone had packed their backpacks, we had to go to the bus to get to the beginning of our hike in the village. Perevalnoye. I remember very well the moment when this huge backpack was loaded onto my shoulders (its weight was 4 times less than my weight): my back moved back (the first question arose in my head then, which I did not decide to voice out loud: will I break my back?); the backpack was pulled down, so much so that it was difficult to walk and it was unclear how I could go on this hike with such weight!!!
Looking at my friend, she just laughed, she stood with exactly the same expression on her face and said: “How heavy he is!!! How are you feeling?” I think we didn't just laugh, we laughed hysterically. Now the group had to get at least the bus, which was 100 meters from our meeting place....!!!!!
Finally, we found ourselves near the bus, our backpacks were loaded into the luggage compartment, and we got on the bus with a smile on our faces and lightness on our shoulders and went to the village. Perevalnoye. Village of Perevalnoye. In the village In Perevalnoye we changed into lighter clothes and set out on a long journey.
Our path began with flat terrain, with every step we approached the Crimean mountains. On the way, instructor Anton told us about the beautiful places in Crimea where he had visited, various funny stories from his hikes, it was interesting to listen to him. Along the way, the backpack was constantly pressing somewhere, getting in the way on my shoulders, it was hard to carry, and I constantly had to adjust it. And here is our first pass at a designated stop, where we took off these heavy backpacks.
Here we ate a delicious plum and, after resting a little, putting on huge backpacks, slowly and with great interest we began to climb into the Red Cave. On the way, Anton showed us the place on the mountain where we would have to climb today - it was very far, because our journey was just beginning.
When climbing to the Red Cave, we passed through a waterfall. After capturing several beautiful photographs at the waterfall and climbing another mountain, we ended up at the red cave. Here we were joined by our fellow travelers - Vala and Maxim from St. Petersburg. Before visiting the cave, I already wanted to eat. Then we stopped for lunch, where we experienced for the first time what a mountain lunch was. Anton laid a tablecloth on the ground and said: “Take out of your backpacks 2 packs of bread, 2 cans of pate, and cans of sprat, a bag of dried fruit, half a stick of cheese, half a stick of sausage and a cucumber”; after which he told me the recipe for making sandwiches: spread beef pate on the bread, fish on top, and a slice of cucumber on top. At that moment I thought: “What disgusting thing, how can you eat fish and meat at the same time??? And not even with bread, but with crispbread, which consisted more of corn grits. And why did Anton say: half a stick of sausage and cheese!!!???”
After lunch we visited the Kizil-Koba tract (Red Cave).
After the excursion, straight from the cave we began the climb to Dolgorukovskaya Yayla. It was difficult to climb to the top with a backpack. It was necessary to climb up, but the backpack was pulled down. Sometimes I had to ask my companion to push my backpack up. Thank you to Instructor Anton, who helped us climb the mountain and provided a helping hand.
Finally, we climbed the Dolgorukovskaya yayla. From the heights of the mountains, it already seemed that everything in front of your feet was so small that you could barely see the route along which we were traveling by bus to the village of Perevalnoye. It was so far that the highway turned into a thin line, the houses became dots, it was incredibly beautiful.
At this pass I had already forgotten that I was carrying a heavy backpack. After a short stop we continued on our way. In a few hours we crossed the plateau from west to east, there were no climbs, the path was easy. On the way we met cyclists riding on rough roads. In the evening we went to the Mound of Glory
after which they stopped for the night in the forest, where there was once a partisan camp. Before it got dark, we set up our tents, Anton prepared us a delicious dinner, which we ate with pleasure.
That evening we were very tired and after dinner we went to sleep in our tents. Before going to bed, the instructor warned us that we needed to take all food and backpacks with us to the tent, because... At night, animals can walk around our campsite and happily eat our food. When I settled down in the tent, I realized that I was missing something!! I lay there and thought!!! I GOT IT: the backpack was no longer on my shoulders (it had already become like my own), but was at my feet. The first night we fell asleep to the chirping and chirping of birds, and at night I woke up from an interesting sound and rustling of leaves, it seemed like a fox was walking around the area.
Today we walked 12 km.
Second day. GOOD MORNING, mountain tourists!!!!
In the morning (from 6.30) while the group was sleeping, Anton began to prepare breakfast - milk porridge with raisins.
Slowly, one after another, with a sleepy look, they came out of the tents. The next morning, Anton said that someone was climbing under his tent.
A few tens of meters from the place where we spent the night there was a spring from which water barely flowed. Water from the spring had to be collected in a mug. After breakfast, we packed our tents and backpacks and at 9.30 left our overnight stay, leaving in our memory those beautiful sounds of birds to which we fell asleep at night. Today our path moved along the large canyon of the Burulcha River. On the way, we picked berries from the dogwood tree and ate them. Next we had to climb the Orta Syrt yayla. This climb seemed to me the hardest and highest.
Having climbed the mountain, under a huge canopy of rocks, we stopped for lunch.
After lunch, I sat down on the edge of a rock and enjoyed the silence of the mountains, the beauty of the mountains, which were both near and far from us. The view from here was so beautiful that when I looked at the mountains in the distance, I got goosebumps... One mountain reminded me of a green hat, at that moment I wanted to turn into a bird and, fluttering my wings, at least for a short time be on one of them that I saw.
There was a small grotto in the rock, which the tourists inherited from the partisans and cavemen.
At lunch we didn’t sit still and climbed up the rock, where we took some wonderful pictures of these Crimean expanses. After a delicious sandwich lunch, we continued on our way. Moving away from this cozy place, I constantly turned back and admired the beauty of the rocks and the view that was left behind.
On the way, we took a memorable photo at the site of the former partisan airfield, and went to the Karabi plateau.
The climb was not easy, Maxim and Valya tried to quickly climb this plateau. And when we were almost up, Maxim stood on one of the high points of the platform and waved his hand at us from above.
Having risen, Anton showed where we would have to come today - this is a weather station. Our group actively walked for several hours to our new place for the night.
and at 5 pm we were at the weather station. We set up our tents on the mountain and went to the weather station building to prepare dinner, where Uncle Oleg met us.
The weather station is one of the coldest places in Crimea. The weather suddenly began to deteriorate in the evening, the instructor advised us to get raincoats in case of rain. In the building, on a gas stove, we prepared dinner - horns with stew, Uncle Oleg brewed us invigorating mountain tea, and also offered us salted mushrooms, but warned us in advance that the mushrooms could still be eaten for three days. I really wanted mushrooms, so everyone ate a little. In the kitchen I saw red onions and asked the station worker, which we ate with pleasure. I really wanted something tasty, and while Uncle Oleg was outside, I looked to see if he had anything like that in his cupboards. Unfortunately, I found a jar of jam that was closed; I didn’t dare take it, which I later regretted during the hike.
Even before reaching the weather station, the sole of my left sneaker began to peel off and I had to do something about it, because the hike was just beginning!!! At the weather station, Uncle Oleg gave me glue, a round needle and thread. To glue and sew the sneakers, I needed a man's help. Misha helped me with this, for which I thank him very much!!! Misha glued the sole to me and sewed the sole to the heel of the sneakers. Now you could safely go on a long journey in these sneakers.
We heated water in saucepans using gas and went outside to wash ourselves in a cold shower. The shower brought us incredible joy; at that moment we were the happiest. And at this time it was dark outside, the weather was deteriorating and everything was in fog. The weather station was a great place to warm up in the evening after a shower. After dinner, drinking hot tea and drying off in the weather station building, we went to sleep in the tents. We put on all our clothes, climbed into our sleeping bag and went to bed. BUT that was not the case... Our tent stood next to the tent where Misha, Natasha and Yulia were (we called this tent “CIS Team”). On the second night, they vigorously discussed political issues and laughed at something. We joined in their conversation and laughter. . At night it was +5 degrees. Since we were dressed warmly, none of us got cold that night.
Today we walked 15 km.
Third day. BBBBBrrrr, it's cold, morning, time to get up!!!!
The morning was cold. In the morning I didn’t want to get out of my sleeping bag and, especially, out of my tent. I had to get up! Coming out of the tent, all that was visible was the neighboring tents and nothing more. The expanse and the mountains that surrounded us were not visible.
In the morning we had breakfast at the weather station, packed our tents and backpacks, and took several photographs in the fog.
It felt like we were vacationing not in Crimea, but in a northern town in Russia. We left the weather station in warm sweaters, pants, hats, and our backpacks became lighter. Before leaving, Anton said: “Today the visibility is very low, Maxim will be the last one. If someone is behind, speak up. If someone is tired, then we will get up to the pass!” Now our path was heading towards the Bolshoy Buzuluk cave. Throughout this journey, the weather constantly changed dramatically: the wind was blowing, the sun was blowing, the clouds were flying towards us in front of our feet. And here we are at the Bolshoy Buzuluk cave. This is a deep cave, which is covered with ice even in summer.
In the short time we were going down into the cave and taking pictures, the fog on the street cleared. Today we had to see the sea from the heights of the mountains. Therefore, everyone was eagerly rushing to see this beauty. The closer we got to the sea, the more beautiful the mountains became!!!
Finally, finally, the sea is visible in the distance.
We stopped at the pass, admired, enjoyed these landscapes, and took photographs. Then our path lay through the big gate pass!! I advise everyone to visit here.
After capturing a few shots, our group went down to the forest in the mountains for lunch. I didn't want to leave this place. And Tanya and I stayed here for another 10 minutes to enjoy these views.
It was hot here, we took off our sweaters and pants and continued our exciting mountain tour in shorts and T-shirts. Our lunch, as always, consisted of meat sandwiches - fish, cheese, and sausage. The table for lunch was a wheel, which was once brought in by tourists.
After a delicious lunch, we descended from the mountains where there was a large gate and climbed another mountain. From the height of another mountain we saw the Great Gate, we saw the space among the mountains that ours had to overcome, descending from one mountain and climbing another along forest mountain paths.
Now, every time we climbed the mountain, we now saw the sea, to which we were getting closer and closer. It was at the same time close, but at that time it was necessary to walk a very long time to get to it.
On the way, our group ate dogwood, as seeds that were plucked from trees, wild pears, and Crimean rose hips. And here we are at the Alakat-Bogaz Pass. Mount Alakat-Bogaz resembled a pyramid overgrown with forest. At the foot of the mountain the sea was not visible. I wanted to look at this mountain and I ran to the opposite mountain and saw this mountain, the sea, which our satellites had not seen.
The wind on the mountain was very strong, the landscapes were incredibly beautiful. It felt like I could be carried away by this wind, which was at the height of the mountains, like a blade of grass.
Further our path ran through bushes and forests. We arrived at the parking lot before dark. Today we spent the night at the foot of several mountains. The place is cozy.
As usual, someone lit a fire, someone set up tents, Anton went to the stream for water, which was quite far from the place where he spent the night. While Anton was going to the stream for water, Tanya saw a tick on her hand. She almost cried, was very scared, was in a panic and didn’t know what to do. She and I ran to meet the instructor. They saw Anton and started shouting: “Help us, pull out the tick.” Anton laughed and said: “Why are you so scared, I’ve already removed dozens of pincers from myself.” I told him: “Anton, quickly, pull out the tick, Tanya is almost crying!!!!!” Anton literally in 15 seconds. pulled this bug out. Afterwards we all began to check ourselves and suddenly discovered that each of us had caught a tick. Anton was a professional in this matter of removing ticks and he quickly saved everyone.
After a delicious dinner, I didn’t want to go to the tent to sleep, so Tanya and I stayed sitting by the fire, listening to the chirping of the birds, the silence of the mountains, and looking at the starry sky. We found the constellation ladle and suddenly a star fell, we made a wish. In the evening it was cool, Tanya and I were sitting by the fire, chatting, I was warming my feet in the slates by the fire... Suddenly, I felt that my feet were getting hot... I looked at the slates, and they began to melt, I ran and grabbed a bottle of water and poured them on. Now I had a presentiment that perhaps I wouldn’t be able to reach the end in my sneakers and that flip-flops would be an excellent option for me for a mountain hike!!!! The sole of my second sneaker was starting to peel off. After sitting a little more, we went to sleep in the tent (from the CIS team tent (where Misha, Natasha, Yulia lived) we again heard a discussion of political issues). On the third day we walked 15 km.
Day 4! Good morning, MOUNTAINS!!! The morning was sunny.
As usual, milk porridge with raisins in the morning, morning preparations for the hike.
And again we set off on a long journey. We needed to climb the mountain, at the foot of which we spent the night today. The climb was not easy and long, and when we climbed up, we again saw many mountains and the Black Sea in the distance. We only saw the sea, it was impossible to touch it, it was impossible to swim in this warm sea water.
On the way we came across a tree with wild pears, which we ate by the handful. We decided to cook pear compote in the evening and grabbed a few handfuls to take with us.
Having walked a little further east to the upper Kok-Asan, we came across a very funny sign “Place for mutual inspection”, which amused us very much.
Before lunch we walked to our overnight stop, Nizhny-Kok Asan. At lunch we picked wild pears and rose hips and made a delicious compote.
After lunch, we hid our backpacks in the bushes and walked lightly on our shoulders to the Kuchuk-Kurachsu waterfall. We walked to the waterfall through the forest, and then our path ran through a dry river. Several dozen times we had to cross this river, walk along it, stepping from one white stone to another, walk along the rocks.
We walked along it for several hours. And now, the long-awaited waterfall in which you could wash yourself.
Everyone happily took a dip in the cool water and went back cheerful. On the way back we picked some pig mushrooms.
Before dark we returned to our overnight stop, where our backpacks were waiting for us. And in the evening they prepared an unusual dinner: buckwheat porridge with beef stew and pork. Valya and Natasha cleaned and chopped mushrooms, Misha went to the stream for water (the stream was a 15-minute walk from the place where we spent the night), Anton and Maxim made a fire. While dinner was being prepared, Tanya, Valya, and I went to the stream to wash our clothes. And when we returned back, dinner was already ready. Buckwheat porridge with mushrooms turned out delicious!!!
After dinner, we played word guessing games. It was fun, everyone understood the meaning of the word in their own way. So Valya thought of a word: “infusion”, which we couldn’t guess. But we knew for sure that, in principle, we are now drinking this, that it is a liquid, tasty drink.
I made a wish: an animal cage. Everyone knew that it was something with holes, there was ventilation, but they had a hard time guessing. Somewhere around 12 o'clock at night we sat by the fire, which was burning out. We didn’t want to go to bed, because we knew that today was our last day sleeping in the mountains, breathing this air, today was the last day of this tour, when we walked such a large number of kilometers - 15 km. Tomorrow we had to walk 5 km.
On the fourth night, my friend and I pitched a tent under a tree. And when we went to bed, we realized that the tent was pitched incorrectly, it was impossible to sleep. The butt was somewhere on a hill, and the legs and head were below the required level. What to do??? It was ordered))))!!! Well, don’t move the tent and don’t wake people up at night)))). Today my backpack served me as a pillow, on which I fell asleep with great pleasure. Today we slept far away from the tents where the CIS team slept. When they went to bed, they again began discussing political issues, but we could hardly hear them.
Day 5 Good morning! In the morning everyone knew what tea leaves were.
Is tea leaves a drink or a liquid? Valya says: “YES!!!!))))).”
We take our time packing our backpacks, someone is washing their clothes, someone is drying their socks on tree branches.
Some people attach washed T-shirts, socks, and swimsuits to their backpacks so that they dry by the evening.
In the morning we washed the cauldron with shampoo after yesterday's dinner! Many were surprised by this and laughed for a long time!!! The cauldron shone no worse than any clean dishes!!! After cooking the porridge and eating, we headed back to the mountains.
I completely forgot to write something about the backpack. And what should I write about him????? The backpack has become like family, you no longer feel it on your shoulders. I think it’s harder to walk without a backpack, but with a backpack you only gain more strength!!!! And with a backpack you can not only walk through the mountains, but you can even run...
We walked and chatted... And suddenly, Anton asks us a question: “What if, girls, a man now drives up in a cool car and says: let’s go, girls, it’s better to relax at the sea!!!! Would you get into his car and throw those heavy backpacks or go on tour?” Someone thought about it, someone immediately said: “NO.” And even the one who thought about it realized that he would be bored lying on the beach and seeing only sea water, and answered: “NO, better than MOUNTAINS!!!”
Having walked a few more hours east from our overnight stay, in the area of the Maski Pass we turned south to Mesopotamia.
We swam in this invigorating water. Below the waterfall flows the Arpat-Ursu River, along which we continued walking. We moved further and further from the mountains along which we had been walking for several days. I constantly turned around, looked at the mountains along which we walked, and ahead they were getting closer and closer to the sea. We walked and enjoyed this nature, this river.
My sneakers were already bad, then I took them off, put them in my backpack and put on flip-flops, in which, as usual, I walked quickly.
Today we had our last lunch: mmmmm... these unforgettable meat and fish sandwiches, cheese, sausage, tea, cookies. We stopped at a designated parking lot and ate at a table.
After lunch, Tanya, Misha and I went for a swim in the river. Valya and Yulia, like monkeys, crawled up the tree and collected walnuts, Natasha collected those that had fallen from the ground. We cleaned the rich harvest collected by the girls and ate it with great pleasure.
Here I had to leave my sneakers in the trash bin. The only thing that could be taken from them was laces!!!
Then we went to the bus stop. There was still laundry hanging on our backpacks, drying, which no longer smelled of a fire, but of shampoo. Shampoo on the hike served as shampoo for us, as well as detergent, soap, and washing powder!!!!
Along the river, the river bed came out to the village of Zelenogorye. And here we are in the village, and here are people, houses, grapes in the garden, a shop, a cafe!!! I really wanted to run in and buy something delicious!!!
Walking along the road, we saw a walnut tree and, like locusts, attacked it and began to tear it and put it in a bag!! A man passing by was shocked by what he saw, cursed and said: “Now I’ll tell the owner of this tree what you’re doing!!!!” This spectacle had to be seen from the outside!!!! They picked all the nuts in a row from the lower branches of the tree!!! Each of us picked half a bag of nuts, which we put in our backpack.
And here is the bus, the driver who agreed to take us to the village by the sea. Approximately 20 km. we drove along the highway past the vineyards. Bunches of grapes were hanging down, I wanted to get off the bus to pick some and eat, but the driver was in a hurry, we drove on.
Today our camp was on the seashore. With backpacks, we walked in a group along the shore along the sea sand with backpacks on our shoulders past vacationing people. Everyone looked at us in surprise.
And now, a suitable place to spend the night. Equipped parking lot, which was once built by a mad mason. He assigned an inventory number to each stone at this site.
I really wanted to eat something unusual. Valya, Natasha, Yulia and Misha went to buy groceries. Meanwhile, we were swimming in the clear sea water, Anton was preparing dinner, Maxim was setting up a tent. About an hour passed before our companions went to the nearest stalls to buy food. During this time, dinner was already prepared - flotsky horns.
We began to worry where our companions were. Maxim called Valya and asked with interest and excitement in his voice: “Where have you been for so long?” Valya responded: “The four of us are riding on a penny in the back seat, returning from the nearest village!!” This is where we laughed. This is how people get to civilization - straight to the store, not to the stall!!!!!!!!! Upon arrival, they told us that they had caught a penny that had no numbers. From the store they brought a loaf of black bread, half of white bread, one bag of rolls, a bulb of garlic (some of our people really wanted garlic), 2 bottles of Crimean wine, 8 tomatoes and 2 Snickers.
At dinner, some of us enjoyed the taste of tomatoes, some of us enjoyed the taste of bread, and some really wanted to eat garlic!!!!
Throughout the hike we watched the moon grow, and today it was almost full. At night we admired the lunar path on the seashore, the moon and the sound of the waves. And after that we went to bed
The CIS team tent was already sleeping separately today. Misha slept on the seashore, enjoying the sound of the waves, Natasha sat for a long time at night on the seashore, and Yulia fell asleep soundly in the tent. Anton slept on the highest place, which he called the balcony. Valya and Maxim set up a tent under a tree, and Tanya and I stood on the edge of a huge rock overlooking the sea. That night I couldn’t sleep, the sea was noisy, I lay there and remembered the mountains and wanted to go back. I didn’t want to part with everyone tomorrow and return to everyday life.
Today we walked 5 km.
Day 6! Good morning, sea! The night was warm.
In the morning, Anton cooked buckwheat milk porridge with raisins and walnuts. I was very surprised when I saw what he was cooking. Everyone confirmed that everyone in the kindergarten ate this porridge. But I never had to eat this as a child. The porridge turned out to be very tasty. I had to make up for lost time, and I ate 3 servings of porridge. Moreover, this was the last breakfast at the campfire today.
After breakfast, we slowly began to pack our backpacks and swam in the sea. We saw Misha washing his hair in the sea and decided to do the same. Previously, when I came to relax at the seaside, I always washed myself after the sea. And then it turned out that the sea served us as a good shower. Having washed our hair, we happily dived into the sea, and when we emerged, we enjoyed the cleanliness of our hair. After my hair dried, I remember Anton saying to Valya: “Your hair is even frizzy now!!!!” Having collected our backpacks, we continued on our way.
Today our journey began with a climb up the mountain along an ecological trail, then we went to the Golitsyn trail. The distance was about 5 km. You can write and talk about this place endlessly. Therefore, I will say a little: it is so beautiful that I don’t even have enough words to express my emotions and feelings from what I saw. These landscapes are magnificent, they will not leave anyone in the world indifferent, only nature can create such beauty!!!!!! I promised myself to come here for a whole day in the future and take my time walking along these paths: sit on a Crimean pine tree, breathe in this amazingly clean air. I advise everyone to come here!!!!!
We went to the New Council. And we immediately found ourselves at a Crimean wine store, where we bought a bottle of Crimean wine to take home. Then we went to the bus station, from where we went to Sudak, where we had to leave. Anton went to his home, Natasha went on vacation to Feodosia, Valya and Maxim stayed for a couple of days in Sudak.
Tanya, Misha and Yulia and I settled in a cozy house, after which we went to see the Genoese fortress. When buying tickets at the box office, they said that we were children and bought children's tickets. The guard at the entrance to the fortress territory looked at Tanya and me and asked: “And what year are you girls from???” I looked at Tanya in bewilderment, she answered that she was from 92. I quickly realized that I was from 93. And he told us: “Girls, it’s time for you to have children!!!” After these words and with a huge smile on his face, he let us into the ticket office. Misha didn’t look like a child, and he didn’t apply for a child’s ticket; at the ticket office they immediately told him: “You young man needs to shave your beard!!!)))))”
We walked around the area for several hours. After which we walked along the entire embankment of Sudak. We bought grapes and watermelon. And when we returned home at night, we turned on the TV, set the table, took a shower and remembered where we had been, what we had seen.
A month later, there were only pleasant memories of the hike; there were many difficult, fun and unforgettable moments. I often look through photographs and remember the sandwiches I loved, milk buckwheat porridge with raisins and nuts. I advise everyone to feel it, to walk around Crimea on their feet, at least for 70 km (this is the number of kilometers we covered in 6 days), with both heaviness and lightness. Such a vacation distracts us so much from everyday life, from phones, computers, communications, the Internet, TV, amenities, that when you arrive at your home, you don’t recognize your city. And you get the feeling that you have seen so many things, sooo many things, as if you were on vacation not for 6 days, but for at least a month, and possibly three.
