Partisan gun
History of the gun.
The history of this weapon is really interesting. It was manufactured in 1902 at the St. Petersburg Foundry and received a serial number - 196. Then there is a huge gap in the biography of the gun - 39 years.
It is only known that in 1941 the cannon was in Crimea and, naturally, belonged to the Red Army. The army retreats to the west, to Sevastopol, and the cannon is left to one of the partisan detachments. The partisans, who settled in the impenetrable Zui forests, literally carried this cannon to the top of Yuki-Tepe in their arms in the spring of 1942.
In July 1942, the bloodiest battles took place in the mountains - the Nazis were once again trying to “cleanse” their rear. And then the partisan gun “goes into action.” From the forested Height 1025, she fired throughout the entire area, covering partisan airfields on the neighboring plateaus.
The cannon fired until the last shell. And when the ammunition ran out, the partisans threw the gun into the abyss so that the enemy would not get it.
For almost 20 years the cannon lay at the bottom of the gorge. Until in 1966, on Victory Day, the forest was filled with people. Hundreds of Simferopol tourists came here to once again raise the famous weapon to the top.
Over time, a whole complex grew up around the cannon on Yuki-Tepe: the radio operators’ dugout, the scouts’ observation post were reconstructed, and the Book of Memory was installed in a special container.
How to find her.
First, I’ll tell you the coordinates of the gun - 44°50.812′ N 34°25.931′ E. This is for those who like to travel independently and know how to use a GPS navigator.
Getting to Yuki-Tepe is not so difficult - nearby is the popular tourist camp "Partisanskaya Polyana" where many trails lead. The map shows that the mountain is shaped like a horseshoe, and the parking lot is at one end (at the base), and the cannon is at the other (at the top). The most convenient way up is along the beam cutting the mountain from the northwest.
