Menchul

Menchul

Mountain 📍 Carpathians

FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Menchul and where is he?

This is the peak of Montenegro, almost 2,000 meters high (1,998 meters, if you count) on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk region and Transcarpathia. Not the highest in the massif, but also not one of those that you will slip by unnoticed.

Where does this name come from?

The word came from Romanian. There are several such Menchuls in the Carpathians, so don't be surprised if a familiar mountain turns out to be a completely different mountain.

How to get there?

The nearest villages are Bystrets and Dzembronya in Ivano-Frankivsk region. Most routes start from there.

How much to go and is it difficult?

Depends on the starting point. From the nearby peak - about an hour's walk, but from Hoverla through the checkpoint of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, take eight hours and take your time.

What else should you know before going out?

Dzembronya and Brebeneskul are nearby, and the Kizia stream originates on the northern slopes. The altitude here is serious, so take water and warm clothes even if it's summer below.
