What is Takhtalidag and what is its height?
This is the highest mountain of the Olympos-Beidaglari National Park in southern Turkey, about 2375 meters high. It belongs to the Western Taurus and dominates the entire coast near Kemer.
How to get to the top?
The easiest way is by the Olympos Teleferik cable car, which has been taking tourists up since 2007. You can also walk, but the lift chair definitely protects the kneecaps.
Why is it visible from across the sea?
The mountain stands right next to the Mediterranean Sea, so even sailors notice it from afar. A panorama of the entire coast opens from the top - keep your camera ready.
When is the best time to go?
Snow and ice lie here from November until June, so the warmer months are more comfortable for walking. Just keep in mind: in the summer, the top is often covered by clouds and the entire panoramic view is hidden.
Where did the name come from?
Takhtala means something like "board" in Turkish. Vegetation on the slopes ends at about 1,900 meters, above - bare stone and character.
