Before the first tributary stream that flows into the Prutets from the right mountainside, take the trail which follows along the right side of this tributary. Shortly afterwards the trail crosses over to the left side of this tributary and then after about 2 hours leads to Polonyna Barania. From this meadow, the trail ascends to the left, at first through a forest, and then through dense growth of alpine pine shrub towards the summit of Khomiak. To the northwest are views of the Gorgany mountains with the peaks Syniak (1665), Malyj Gorgany (1592), and Doboshanka (1754).

To return either descend down the same trail you came up on or after descending to Polonyna Barania find the road which is about 150m down to the left of the forest. This road cuts through the woods down into the valley of the stream Zhenets. The descent is quite steep. At the bottom the road leads into a large meadow where small homes come into view. Continue along the road which parallels Zhenets. After about  hour you will pass the timber reserve land between the villages Tatariv and Mykulychyn and arrive at the main road. Just beyond the turn in the road is a bus stop.
