Chitwan National Park
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Chitwan and where to find it?
This is a national park in Nepal, about 200 km southwest of Kathmandu. An almost continuous jungle on an area of 932 km2 is a place where you are definitely not the center of attention.
How did Chitwan earn UNESCO status?
It was declared a protected area back in 1973, and in 1984 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site under number 284. The paper is solid, the jungle is even more solid.
Who can you meet here?
One-horned rhinoceroses, Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, deer, buffaloes and crocodiles. The list is such that it is better to take selfies from a safe distance.
How is tourism here?
The base camp for travelers is Saurakha village near the border of the park. From there, they go on safari and ride elephants, so the adventures start right outside the door.
When to go?
The park welcomes visitors all year round, so there are no particular restrictions on dates - focus on your own vacation rather than the jungle schedule.
